About Us

The mission of The Medical Spa @ GMG is to provide compassionate and customized care to our patients. We strive to provide the highest quality care in a relaxed and tranquil setting. The spa is under the direction of David Thomas, MD.

Tracy Michaels leads the Medical Spa @ GMG staff. A graduate of Gaston College, she has over 20 years experience in health care and has been with the Medical Spa since 2004. She has been trained and earned certification in Obagi, Vivite, SkinCeuticals.

Darlene B. Smith is a licensed Aesthetician.  She graduated from Carolina Academy, a Paul Mitchell School, and holds certification in Obagi, Vivite, SkinCeuticals and Dermalogica skin care lines. She is also certified for Glo Minerals makeup and Dermaplaning.  Darlene specializes in Acne Treatments and Age Renewal Treatments and has a passion for assisting others in maintaining a healthy, youthful appearance.

Dr. David Thomas is board certified in internal medicine and has a very successful practice in internal medicine and bariatric medicine. He also has certification in Botox and dermal fillers. Dr. Thomas attended medical school at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and did internship and residency at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. He is currently a member of the American Associatian of Bariatric Physicians and The Obesity Society.

Cathi Putnam is a graduate of The Whole You School of Massage & Bodywork, Pembroke State University, and Lees McRae College. She is experienced in different massage modalities.  Cathi enjoys working in medical massage, assisting clients in reducing pain levels, increasing flexibility and range of motion while reducing stress, enhancing relaxation and renewal in the body.

Juanita Gunnell earned a Masters of Science degree in food and nutrition from Winthrop University.  She has counseled patients and clients regarding nutrition and diet for over 20 years. Juanita has worked with The Medical Spa @ GMG since 2004.
